Supporting different ways of thinking at work.

Neurodiversity Awareness for Managers is a practical training programme designed to help managers better understand neurodiversity and their role in creating inclusive working environments.

The course focuses on recognising common challenges, understanding strengths, and implementing practical adjustments that support neurodivergent employees — whether diagnosed or not. It equips managers with confidence, clarity, and appropriate boundaries, enabling them to respond effectively without making assumptions or acting as specialists.

Recommended course length: Half Day – (Also available as an online session, depending on organisational needs.)

Overview

Managers play a key role in shaping how inclusive and accessible the workplace feels for neurodivergent employees. While they are not expected to diagnose or act as experts, managers are often the first point of contact when challenges arise.

This course supports managers to build understanding of different thinking styles, recognise workplace barriers, and respond consistently and fairly. The focus is on practical management behaviours, reasonable adjustments, and inclusive communication — helping neurodivergent employees to perform, contribute, and thrive.

Topics Covered

  • What neurodiversity is and why it matters
  • Different thinking styles, strengths, and challenges
  • Common workplace barriers for neurodivergent employees
  • Inclusive communication and management approaches
  • Practical and reasonable workplace adjustments
  • Boundaries, consistency, and fairness in management

Course Outcomes

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Build understanding of different thinking styles and strengths
  • Increase confidence in supporting neurodivergent colleagues
  • Identify practical adjustments that improve performance and wellbeing
